Les Sampou to Perform Fundraiser Concert

Les Sampou will present a night of music in her hometown of Norwell, MA on Saturday, February 2, 2008. The concert will run from 8:00pm to 11:00pm (doors open at 7:30pm) at the Cushing Center and will feature Les and the Tin Angels. Guest appearances by a student of the Norwell Voice Studio, Shea O’Brien and singer-songwriter David Ogden.

But this is not just a concert; it is also a fundraiser: One of Les's goals is to create a fund to help aspiring teens with their musical dreams:

• A percentage of the concert proceeds will be used to start as seed money for the Rising Star Fund as well as the securing of local, state and federal grants.
  
• The Rising Star Fund will aid teenage students of Les’s Norwell Voice Studio who demonstrate the talent and desire to make a career of singing and music. Specifically, funds will help finance the studio production of vocal demos for teenage girls from the South Shore and beyond.
  
• Proceeds from the concert will also be used to help produce Les’s new CD project. 10% of Les’s CD sales will continue to support the Rising Star Fund in the future.

“Over the years, I’ve had the honor of working with so many talented people,” says Sampou. “I love my job. In addition to writing and performing, I teach kids and adults how to sing, how to have confidence in their unique musical voice and how to make their dreams become a reality. I remember being 14 years old and longing to sing just like my idols, but never knowing who to turn to for help. My hope is that the Rising Star Fund will make it easier for a young singer to make a recording which she can use for auditions, for booking or simply to further her musical education.”

Donations for concert tickets range from $35 to $250. For all donations of $100 or $250, contributors will receive:

• one ticket to the fundraising concert
• one autographed copy of Les's new CD upon release
• choice of a Group ($100) or Private ($250) Music & Performance Workshop taught by Les

The Cushing Center is located in downtown Norwell, MA at 673 Main Street. It is handicapped accessible. Free parking is available at the Cushing Center and in downtown Norwell locations. There will be a cash bar, coffee, sweets and raffle.

Directions: From Route 3 South towards Cape Cod from Braintree Split:

1. Take Exit 13/Route 53 toward Norwell/Route 123.
2. Go left off exit (if coming from the south/Cape direction, go right off exit) onto Route 53/Washington Street.
3. Go to intersection of Route 53 and Route 123 and go right onto Route 123 East.
4. Go 3 miles to downtown Norwell. The Cushing Center is a large brick building on the left located at 673 Main Street.
